There are few things in life that top summertime in Italy. I can never get enough of the crystal clear water and mediterranean sun, not to mention the pizza and pasta. This summer, my boyfriend and I found an unreal discount on a trip to Florence and naturally I splurged and booked the trip on a whim. No, it wasn’t the smartest financial decision I’ve ever made, but I’m not myself if I don’t travel often. It’s well worth it to skip on a few nights out to get to really experience life in a new place.
If you ever get the opportunity to travel to Italy, I’d always recommend going to Florence or the Amalfi Coast. From Florence, it’s a quick and easy 2 hour train ride to Venice, Rome and Cinque Terre (the picturesque towns along Italy’s coastline that you’ve definitely seen on Instagram). Florence is also super close to the wine regions in Tuscany, so it really is a great city to center your trip around.
I lived in Florence for a little under half a year, so it’s a place that’s near and dear to me. Going back felt, honestly, like being home in a way. Florence is small, but unbelievably charming. It’s the kind of place you could easily see yourself building a life in. If you’re going to Italy, chances are that you’re at least a tiny bit excited about the food. Having explored the city extensively, I feel the need to tell you guys about the best places to eat (the most important part).
