Let’s talk make up. To be honest, I only started really using make up a year or so ago when things were getting more serious with my blog. When I first started to experiment, I was totally fine playing around with the $5.99 drug store make up. I honestly had no clue what I was doing at the time, so it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to be spending $30 on a product I didn’t even know how to use. I gradually started spending a little more money on make up for better, cleaner, higher quality brands. Now that I actually know a thing or two about cosmetics, I’ll never go back to those CVS isles.
When you’re spending $40 on a tinted moisturizer, you have to understand that you’re spending $40 for a lot more than that little tube. You’re paying for a product with cleaner, safer ingredients, a more long lasting wear, better quality so you end up using less, and overall, a better finished look. Sure, I still spend barely anything on make up brushes at E.L.F, but I started noticing that my drug store mascara was drying out in the tube and my $6 blush was nonexistent 20 minutes after application. It was just a waste of money, no matter how little I was spending.
Because I’m spending more money on products these days, I put a lot of time and effort into making sure whatever I’m spending on is worth that extra money. I figured I should put that wealth of knowledge to good use and share some of the products and brands that are worth the splurge. Yes, no shocker, these products are going to be a bit pricier than the things lining the shelves of CVS, but I promise you, the way they’ll make you look and feel is worth every penny. I came across most of these products at Sephora after a sales associate told me her go-to BB/CC cream was the Chanel CC Cream with SPF 50. Obviously the brand has a high reputation of producing only the best, and the same goes for their make up. Using Chanel’s products makes me feel more luxurious, for obvious reasons, but the kicker is in the way it makes me look.
If nothing else, definitely check out their new Chanel Le Volume Mascara with the world’s first 3D printed brush. I swear, I’ll never use another mascara again. No clumping, perfectly fans out my lashes and is incredibly precise. Also go for their Gentle Bi-Phase Eye Makeup Remover. You definitely don’t want to be rubbing your eyes super hard to get your make up off. It stretches and wares on the skin underneath and around your eyes, aging you quicker. Chanel’s Eye Make Up Remover is super gentle and actually works, so it’s perfect for every day use.
My Absolute Favorite, Though
If you’re going to splurge on anything, splurge on this mascara. Chanel’s new Le Volume Révolution De Extreme Volume Mascara with a 3-D Printed Brush is a game changer. It’s the world’s first 3D Printed mascara brush and it’s quickly become my favorite mascara. I personally love a fanned-out lash with no clumping and this wand/brush combo gives me just that without spending 10 minutes staring in the mirror to get it just right. Go for it, you won’t be sorry.

You’re right that some cheaper products can translate to cheaper quality and it becomes counter-productive to buy products that don’t last. Thanks for sharing your picks.

I couldn’t agree more, girl; I had the same mentality about not splurging. You start to become more informed about the importance of the quality of the products you put on your face and then when you consider all the ingredients that often double as skincare, splurging seems logic. I’m actually starting to adapt to this way of thinking with clothing and accessories, too. I used to think it was crazy to splurge on a pair of jeans, but if you think about how often you wear your favorite skinnies, the cost per wear makes sense. Anyway, back to makeup, I’ll have to check out some of your Chanel faves, it’s a brand I’ve yet to explore!

Omg you’ll have to check out Chanel’s beauty products! So worth the money. And yes! I recently had this major revelation about make up and the fact that it’s sitting on your face all day and being absorbed into your skin, which is why I only use higher end products, like Chanel, now. So much better in the long run!

Yes exactly!! Couldn’t have said it better. I’m trying to go for more investment pieces and products because it makes more sense in the long run!

Totally relatable, have done that during my college. Have wasted money on eyeliners from chambors etc. Instead you can add a little more and be highly satisfied and will go on for long
